#1 A Leap Of Faith
I've been sitting on the idea of creating a lifestyle blog ever since the start of circuit breaker (for those who are not familiar, circuit breaker is essentially Singapore's version of a lockdown. We're still able to leave our homes to do the essentials but social visits are strictly banned). Writing is definitely not my strongest suit; sometimes I find myself at a loss for words and I'm not exactly the most tactful when I communicate with others (hence the unfiltered opinions). However, I find a strange and almost comforting sense of peace whenever I get to pen down my thoughts and express myself through writing. I know what you are thinking - I could easily keep a private journal or diary of some sort, why do I need to publish my thoughts on such a public platform? Truth be told, I've always cared way too much about what others think of me. We are all guilty of curating our social media pages to show the world a side of ourselves we want others to perceive us as. I guarantee that there are hardly any pages out there which showcase the struggles we face daily, because let's face it, who on earth is interested in knowing that someone suffers from anxiety and spends his mornings huddled in bed, overthinking about issues, afraid to confront them?
Of course, I'm not going to document down my insecurities and sufferings (ok, maybe sometimes) because that would just be depressing as hell. All I'm doing here is taking a stand - to let everyone know that I'm done caring so much about people's judgment and also, to be as raw as I can about my thoughts without offending anyone. After all, we still live in an era where we need to watch what we post because it could destroy our credibilities or worst of all, hurt someone else in the process. That's not my intention at all. It may come across as slightly attention seeking but who doesn't enjoy that little piece of attention?
Singapore will be commencing phase 2 this Friday, which means that social activities will resume with social distancing measures heavily in place (no more than 5 pax per group) and this means that I'll probably have less time to update this blog. I do regret not kickstarting this "mini-project" 2.5 months ago when we were all locked in at home with lots of time to spare but I'm glad I took this leap of faith and launched this page anyway.
In the next couple of weeks/months/years, you can expect to read more about my thoughts working in a start-up, my fitness journey, travel blogs, my walk with God and a whole lot of random musings. Just to re-emphasise on this disclaimer: I'm not in any way a qualified career counsellor, fitness professional (even though I do teach part-time at a fitness studio) or theologist, so do read my posts with a pinch of salt. My only request is for you to be respectful of this space. If you don't have anything constructive to say or if I'm not someone you particularly like, either stop reading or don't comment anything at all. "Likewise, the tongue is a small part of the body, but it makes great boasts. Consider what a great forest is set on fire by a small spark" - James 3:5. However, I am open to varying opinions and I do enjoy some banter so please feel free to agree/disagree with me. We can even take our conversations offline if you'd like.
So there you have it: A lifestyle blog filled with random musings. I hope you will enjoy having a glimpse into what goes on inside that brain of mine and let me know if you have suggestions on categories you would like to see me write about.
